The Mexican Wedding Cross, or Yayalag cross has been made in Yalalag, Oaxaca since at least the sixteenth century. While exact origins are unknown, the design is believed to have been brought to Mexico by Dominican missionaries who converted the natives to Christianity.
Crafted in Sterling silver, this pendant has twisted floral decorations and dangling cruciforms. A green art glass cabochon rests in the center. Perfect for the Boho look, it has a generous size which is perfect to wear on a long chain, or on a string of beads, which is the custom in Mexico.
