A symbol of theatre and the performing arts since ancient times, the dual masks represent the Greek Muses Thalia, muse of comedy, and Melpomene, muse of tragedy. Alternatively, the masks are often known as "Sock and Buskin" after the names of the types of shoes worn by ancient Greek comedy (sock) and tragedy (buskin) actors, which the respective Muses were also often depicted wearing.
The comedy and tragedy masks in this ring are replicas of charms, one backed with onyx, and the other with carnelian, with both stones peeking out of the cutouts on the masks. After sandwiching the two together, we have created a flip ring with a simple shank. A fun way to show your emotions, and a true must-have for anyone who delights in or cries at the theatre!
