The lover’s knot or love knot has a long history of being a symbol of love. It represents the unbreakable bond and eternal connection between two lovers. In the Victorian Era, double hearts set side by side meant “bound together” and were traditionally set with gemstones and used for betrothal in the 1800s.
This wonderful brooch has us in a swoon! Beautiful lavishly enameled in bright cobalt blue, it has an elongated ovular shape, is ringed with thirty seed pearls, and decorated with both a pearl encrusted love knot and a double heart motif. The enamel is in perfect condition, with not a chip or scratch to be seen, and the original pearls are all intact. A lovely betrothal brooch, looking just as fresh and hopeful today as when it was first given, you will want to wear it everywhere!
