The Edelweiss flower, a white blossom found in the high alps of Austria, has been a popular motif amongst Austro-Hungarian jewelers for hundreds of years. In modern times, the flower gained global recognition with the Rogers & Hammerstein hit musical "The Sound of Music".
Beautifully crafted of silver, this mid-nineteenth century cross pendant features the Edelweiss blossom as decoration. A substantial 3" x 1 1/2", it has a hinged element on the bottom, allowing for a more flattering presentation when worn. The 15 inch silver rolo chain is an English addition. A wonderful and wearable addition to any cross collection!
