The Witch's Heart became known in the 15th century, and was used to ward off evil. It was common practice to attach the hearts to babies' blankets to keep them safe from dark magic. By the 18th century, it was fashionable to give the heart shape with a curved tail in the form of jewelry as love tokens.
In the Victorian language of flowers, the name Pansy derived from the French word "penser" for "to think". It represented the idea that one would think of and consider the memory of a loved one who departed. The symbol was also used among the living to send a "thinking of you" message.
This eye-catching witches heart is crafted in silver, with bright green guilloche enamel. Inside the heart is a pansy and leaf motif, accented with seed pearls and red enamel. We have converted it into a ring using a 14 karat yellow gold replica shank. The vibrant colors, as well as the sentimental message, make this piece a great Valentine or holiday accessory!
