Amethyst stones have been thought for generations to provide protection and were worn by the Ancients as a talisman for luck. The beautiful violet purple hue has also had an allure not to be resisted. Beloved by Victorians as well, it was the first color a widow was allowed to wear after coming out of mourning.
This ring was converted from an antique brooch. The beautiful, faceted rectangular amethyst is haloed by 21 natural seed pearls, which the Victorian jewelers implemented to represent "tears of sorrow". The faceted emerald cut amethyst stone is paired with a replica textured band, giving its new incarnation as a ring is a lovely way to showcase this classic combination of amethyst and pearl.
