A symbol of theatre and the performing arts since ancient times, the dual masks represent the Greek Muses Thalia, muse of comedy, and Melpomene, muse of tragedy. Alternatively, the masks are often known as "Sock and Buskin" after the names of the types of shoes worn by ancient Greek comedy (sock) and tragedy (buskin) actors, which the respective Muses were also often depicted wearing. We have created this beautiful sterling silver homage to the theatrical arts based on an antique ring.
