A smattering of pebbles makes a noise at your bedroom window, waking you from your slumber. You peer out the window into the moonlit night and see your beloved beckoning you to follow him into the garden. Hastily slipping on your peignoir, you dash out into the dewy darkness, heart racing, to find yourself deep amongst the blossoms, heady with scent, your bare feet carpeted by the soft moss as you enjoy the embrace of your lover holding you next to his heart. Whew! Steamy stuff. That's what this little hand painted brooch brings to the mind of yours truly!
Set in luscious 18 karat yellow gold, the glossy black enamel has been hand painted with pink, purple, orange and blue flowers, which would have each held a different romantic symbolism in the Victorian Language of Flowers. For instance, the rose meant true love, the chrysanthemum stood for passion neglected, and the forget-me-not is self explanatory. Vividly eye catching and oh so terribly romantic, it's a keepsake from the past you'll treasure today!
