Presenting a wonderful Victorian locket with lots of hidden symbolism! Crafted in rich 18 karat yellow gold, it has a large face of carved bloodstone, a pentacle star with a bright pink ruby, and three accent rubies adorning the locket setting. Bloodstone was considered a protective stone for those going into battle. Christians believed that it was linked to Christ, with the smattering of red on green representing the blood that gathered under the cross. It was also a dark enough stone to be used in mourning jewelry, and lockets were often chosen to enclose locks of hair or likenesses of departed loved ones. Celestial jewelry was also very popular, as Victorians were fascinated with the mysteries and beauty of the night sky. The pentacle star symbolized the blending of earthly elements with spiritual realms, offering balance of air, fire, water, earth and spirit, giving protection to those who wore it. A fantastic piece, with plenty of room for keepsakes or photographs, you will find yourself wearing it all the time!
