Nut (pronounced Newt) is the goddess of the sky, stars, cosmos, mothers, astronomy, and the universe in the ancient Egyptian religion. Using a wonderful old Egyptian Revival shank to create a replica, we have paired it with an antique mixed cut amethyst and seed pearl brooch. This style of brooch was popular for Victorian ladies to wear as part of their half mourning garb. The subdued lavender amethyst stone was considered proper for matrons as well, while the seed pearls represented tears of sorrow. In her new rendition, we think of a beautiful violet colored night sky ringed with stars and planets, while Nut supports and protects all under it. A truly innovative and repurposed piece, she is now a stunning statement ring with a new story of her own to tell!
