The Order of the Eastern Star is an appendage of the Freemasons, and was originally organized to accommodate female relatives of Masons. The emblem of the order is a star, representing the biblical star of Bethlehem. Today, the Order of the Eastern Star is open to men and women of all religious beliefs.
This ring would have belonged to a woman in the Eastern Star order. Fashioned of 10 karat yellow gold, it has a synthetic or lab created ruby, which was has all the properties of a natural gem, and was considered cutting edge in technology when first produced. The star emblem is applied in gilt on the surface of the stone, creating a striking little bauble that does not require an initiation fee!
