During the Victorian Era, it became popular for gentlemen to give their new brides a little token in the form of a crescent moon. It was a way of celebrating what would be their new life together, and to bless their honeymoon after the wedding. Often, the crescents would be worn in the bridal veil during the ceremony, and then pinned to the lapel for the honeymoon.

This wonderful starflower & crescent brooch is made of 14 karat yellow gold with seventeen seed pearls on the crescent, and twenty-one on the petals of the flower, which has a little diamond at its center. Just imagine taking a turn around the garden with your beloved, the moonlight outlining your lovely white throat, and this romantic  little beauty being pinned to your breast! Sigh!
