The custom of wearing mourning clothing and jewels was very important during the Victorian Era. Queen Victoria made the trend popular by going into mourning for her beloved Prince Albert, and remaining in black until her death. Most ladies wore black for at least one year after the death of a family member. They were permitted after a time to wear jewelry, but the pieces were required to have black incorporated into them somehow, either with onyx, jet or black enamel work.

This striking pendant is made of carved shiny black onyx embellished with fabulous dangling tassels that will sway and gleam with every move you take! A charming piece with sleek sophistication as well as flirty and fun elements!
