Austria-Hungary was a constitutional monarchy that was created in 1867 and was dissolved in 1918.  During this short period of time, many opulent, dramatic pieces of jewelry were produced. Close in proximity to Germany and Italy, Renaissance Revival style was a significant influence. Gothic, Biblical and Mythical themes were prevalent, as was the use of closely clustered jewels, both genuine and paste.

Presenting a stunning little relic of the past! Set in silver with a C-clasp, this rosetta shaped brooch has a smooth robins egg blue cabochon turquoise stone at its center and is surrounded by closed back foiled garnets and natural pearls. Embellished with blue, white and orange enamel, it has even retained remnants of enamel on the reverse. A special piece with all the elements so admired in a short-lived jewelry era and a must-have for all serious antique jewelry collectors!
