Born in 1757 at the Palace of Versailles, Charles X (called Charles Phillippe), was the youngest son in his family, therefore unlikely to become king. And yet, he did. Reigning as king from 1824-1830, he was far more conservative than his brother Louis XVIII who ruled before him. Charles attempted to rule as an absolute monarch and was forced to abdicate, living in exile for the remainder of his life.

This very rare ring features a carved cameo with the beautifully detailed  likeness of Charles X, set in twisted 18 karat yellow gold. The cameo is French in origin, and the 14 karat yellow gold shank is American. Both elements are from the early 19th century. A wonderful piece, destined for the hand of a true Francophile who values all aspects of the rich history of a beautiful country!
