Persian turquoise was very popular among Victorians. It was brought to Europe via Turkey, and called “Pierre Turquoise” (Turkish Stone) by the French. It is harder than American turquoise, and  has a pure blue color with no matrix, which was desirable in the Victorian Era. Queen Victoria was very fond of the stone, gifting her bridesmaids with pieces which included it, which added to its popularity. In many cultures, it is said to bring protection, health, prosperity and love. Some wore it to ward off the Evil Eye.

The fad of pairing Persian turquoise with seed pearls became popular after Queen Victoria of England married Prince Albert. Jewelry made with this combination were commissioned by the couple to give as gifts to their wedding party.

This band style ring is crafted in 18 karat yellow gold with a simple shank. Flush set natural seed pearls are guarded on either side by two Persian turquoise stones. Perfect for stacking, and suitable for any sex, it will be one of your favorites for everyday wear!
