The era we now know as "Art Deco" received its name from the Exposition International des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, which was largely dedicated to the jewelry arts. The style embraced a cleaner line and more geometric shapes than seen in the past.  Emphasis was placed on the relationship between art and modern industry.

In 1917, David Belais of Belais Brothers submitted his special formula of white gold; the patent was applied for in October of 1918, and approved in 1920. The Belais alloy became so popular, that during the 1920s, white gold was sometimes referred to as “Belais metal.”

This handsome ring has all the trademarks of the enduring Art Deco era. Beautifully structured white gold holds a sparkling center Old European round-cut diamond, flanked by diamond-shaped black onyx and four rose-cut diamonds for an understated sophisticated design. The unification of the materials and the design are what Art Deco is all about. It's a must-have for anyone who admires this era!
