This antique French brooch is crafted in vermeil, which is gold over silver, and is studded with marcasite. Marcasite is an iron sulfide material with a crystal structure and is actually too brittle to be used in jewelry. What is called marcasite is pyrite, commonly referred to as 'fool's gold'. It is usually faceted to resemble the glitter of diamonds and set in silver. Using these two ingenious materials, our brooch is a darling, flirty little flower whose petals seem to be swaying in the breeze. Dotted with marcasite dew drops, it is a real treasure you'll love to adorn yourself with!
