Dendritic agate (also called 'Moss Agate") is not banded, and therefore not strictly an agate, although still referred to as such. It's a mineral of the quartz family. It is clear to milky white, with dendritic inclusions of manganese or iron that has grown into patterns similar to trees, seaweed, or lightning strikes. The Ancients believed it to aid in agricultural success, burying it in the soil where crops were planted and using as an amulet when journeying across land.
This dendritic agate ring has wonderful inclusions that create a mysterious little landscape in the rectangular cut stone. Originally a brooch, we have had it converted using an antique replica shank in 14 karat yellow gold. Like a misty morning in the ferny floor of a forest, it has an other-worldly, fairytale feel. A great unisex piece for every day wear, you'll love pairing it with a suit, a leather jacket or your sweats!
