Antique 10K & Engraved Amethyst Spinner Watch Fob

  • Sale
  • Regular price $750.00

Victorian gentlemen tended to decorate their watch chains with fobs. Watches were worn in the waistcoat pocket, with a chain attached for easy access. The fob helped to add a counterweight so the chain wouldn't be pulled by the heavier watch. Some fobs were merely ornamental, and others held a practical purpose and were put to use as stamps for sealing wax on letters, as snuff holders, or as something to toy with, such as this spinner fob.

This unusual piece is crafted in 10 karat yellow gold, with a barrel shaped amethyst spinner. The amethyst is engraved INDUSTRY GETS ITS REWARDS, most likely a presentation gift to a hard-working employee. A wonderful keepsake from the Industrial Revolution, it will look marvelous on a 'Neck Mess', or just by itself on a gate chain bracelet!
