Insects have been popular motifs in jewelry for centuries. The ancient Egyptians famously adorned themselves with scarabs made of precious stones and gold. The Victorians adored fanciful bejeweled insects, using them to decorate their apparel and even their parasols! The trend has never gone out of style, and other noted eras have produced wonderful pieces depicting insects. During the middle of the 20th century, jewelers revived Victorian styles, and this little beetle brooch is a product of their ingenuity and craftspersonship!

With a rich, yellow 18 karat gold 'skeleton', this beetle brooch has a body made of glossy  black onyx, wings encrusted with bright green emeralds, and diamonds accenting the wing tips. Tiny eyes of ruby peer up from the head, which rests upon two little golden legs. An adorable, yet thoroughly sophisticated piece, you are sure to let this little glittering guy crawl onto your shoulder and sparkle all day long! (Don't worry, he won't bite!)
