Antique French 18K, Diamond, Pearl & Enamel Judeo-Christian Cross

The term 'Judeo Christian' first appears in a letter by Alexander McCaul which is dated October 17, 1821; it refers to Jewish converts to Christianity. Also during the 1800s, some churches would observe Jewish traditions in order to convert Jewish people to Catholicism.

This rare example of Judeo Christian jewelry is in the form of a Christian cross with a Jewish star of David in the center. Crafted in beautifully patinaed 18 karat yellow gold, with diamonds forming the star and a natural pearl in the middle, it also has black enamel detailing on each end of the cross and outlining the star. Inscribed on the reverse in French, commemorating a first communion and dated 1865, it is a real treasure for all who value Faith in its biblical iterations.
