Turquoise, the captivating sea-green to aqua stone of the ancients, represents wisdom, tranquility, protection, good fortune, and hope. Ancient peoples believed in its profound power to protect, as well as its calming energy and its association with enduring love.
Turquoise holds a special significance in Native American culture, meaning something profound and specific to individual tribes. Referred to as the “stone of life,” many believe it is a living mineral because of its ability to change colors depending on factors such as the environment, light, dust, and skin acidity, which all play a role in how the stone appears to the eye.
This vintage turquoise ring has an amorphous setting with eight stones ranging in color from pale aqua blue to green. Two larger tear drop cabochons take center stage, while six smaller round cabochons are offset on each end of the ring face. The effect is that all the stones are mirroring each other. With crimped bezels and large boules to complement the composition, it's a satisfying and lovely piece to reflect upon. Turquoise looks amazing with most anything: a crisp white buttoned down shirt and a pair of jeans, a little black dress with thigh high boots, or a favorite gauzy caftan! It will always be a go-to in your collection, truly the "stone of life"!
