Three strands of 14 karat gold chain are threaded through a separate "knotted" element with an onyx stone bearing a seed pearl studded star in the center. Delicate boules and repousse work accent the knot, with a tiny golden ball dangler at the end. The star motif was typical of the Grand Period of the Victorian Era, as was the Etruscan Revival gold work. This piece was well loved, perhaps worn as mourning jewelry, as evidence of previous repair shows in the chain, and the knot element no longer slides. It is still a beautiful necklace, and sure to be treasured just as much by whomever is lucky enough to wear it!
