This Georgian mourning ring is about as good as it gets. It is fully hallmarked for 18 carat Gold, assay London 1822, makers mark JL for John Linnet, a jewelery maker renowned for his delicate and fine work who made some of Queen Victoria's pieces.
The band is enameled in black with "In memory of" in Gold around the outer surface. The mount is set with a diamond between 0.1 and 0.05 carat. Inside, behind the diamond, is a window containing a lock of finely woven hair. The inscription on the inner band reads "Miss Jane Fitzherbert; OB 11 October 1822 at 65". I will send this in an antique ring box.
A beautiful, historic piece beckoning to you from the past to make it part of your antique jewelry collection!
