Often mistaken for jade, chrysoprase is a beautiful rich green color and is part of the same rare quartz family chalcedony, as onyx, agate & carnelian. It gets its beautiful green color from nickel and it rates a 7 on the Mohs scale. So it is sturdy enough to wear on a regular basis!
The word “chrysoprase” comes from the Greek “Chryso” meaning gold and the root word “Prasinon” meaning green. The ancient Greeks and Romans used chrysoprase to make beautiful cameos and intaglios. Chrysoprase can also be found in the decoration and jewelry of the Ancient Pharaohs. In ancient China it was believed to balance the Yin and Yang, while in India it was believed to heal a broken heart.
This gorgeous ring is set in filigreed 14 karat yellow and white gold. It has a beautiful shank with a classic Art Deco aesthetic. The stone is a refreshing shade of solid green, complemented by the use of the yellow and white gold tones. Great for everyday wear, and decorative enough for a fancy occasion!
