This Scottish agate brooch is quite an intriguing design . A lifesaver shape envelopes a cross with a thick anchor and a twisted wire represents a cord. Banded agate in multi-earth tones and gold-filled metal decorated with floral patterns comprise this antique jewel! Possibly hailing from the Edwardian era, or maybe even late Victorian, this is an outstanding example of the fine workmanship of the Scottish jewelers working with locally sourced agate deposits. The large target brooch measures 1 7/8 inches by 1 1/2 inches and is made of rolled-gold over base metal and wonderful banded agate In ready-to-wear condition with minor expected signs of wear.
