This dainty vintage ring is in the fashion of a late Georgian/early Victorian mourning ring. The split shank has wonderful feathered detail and the centerpiece is a unique shield shape. It has gorgeous black enamel and is crowned by a seed pearl nestled in a golden spiral. Likely, this piece was a conversion or rescue of two separate pieces that were united after one sustained damage. I love pieces like this as the care taken with them shows that someone loved them enough to save them and give them new life!
Dimensions (of shield): 9mm x 10.2mm
Size: 6 (will fit a 5.5 - 6.5 as-is and can be resized)
Weight: 1.6 grams
Materials: Black enamel, bright seed split pearl, and gold.
Metal: 14k gold shank, 9k top.
Condition: Good used condition. There is a small opening along the bottom of the shield, likely a manufacturing flaw. There are also signs of a possible former resize and uneven soldering of the shank to the shield. These are small flaws which are not noticeable on the hand and it wears well.
